Abstract
Public speaking is an art. To speak effectively in public, one must learn and master the art of it. This study examined the two aspects of speech making namely-speech writing and speech making and exposes the fact that the two are interrelated. To achieve this, adequate preparations must be made which include preparing the speech (pre-planning), taking care of nervousness and stage fright, applying non-verbal codes during speech communication and the different modes of speech presentation. The study also tried to provide some helpful hints needed during oral presentation. This shows that mastery of this art exposes one to the techniques involved in writing and delivering a speech without flaws before targeted audience.
