Abstract
Globally, the world is appropriately called an information society. There is more information now than ever before in human history. There also exist arrays of technologies that assist in providing, processing and storing information in a timely manner. They are referred to as information and communication technologies –ICTs, and the two dominant technologies of this era are mobile communications especially cellular phones and the internet. The range of ICTs is extensive and rapidly changing. Even older, more familiar technologies such as newspapers, radio and video are being produced and used in new ways in the information society. Therefore there is the need for people to receive a more relevant grounding in Science; this grounding involves the new technology that surrounds them i.e the modern information and communication technology –ICTs as it relates to agriculture today. To know whether or not farmers of these days were able to acquire modern tools/equipment or ways/skills for improving their farming activities, farmers in three local government in Ganye Chiefdom Adamawa state were visited, viz; Jada L.G.A., Ganye L.G.A., Toungo L.G.A. respectively, and questionnaire and oral interview were distributed/carried out amongst them for proper analysis in this research work. At the end of the study, it was discovered that information processing is a priceless commodity in today’s business world. At any level, local or international, the information need of the world is varied and numerous in relations to the ever-increasing growth of population and technology’s bid to cope with this situation. And the study recommended the development of appropriate agricultural, metallurgical, ceramic, plastic, oil, or textile substances that can perform
whatever functions a new invention requires of them to achieve the globalization’s benefits.
