Abstract
This study examined the perceived importance of utilizing animal husbandry farm facilities in Agricultural Science in Secondary Schools in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. A survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprised 3,408 Senior Secondary 1-3 Agricultural Science students from three Secondary schools that have animal husbandry farm facilities in the area. Out of this, a sample of 357 Agricultural Science students was drawn through the stratified random sampling technique for the study. A structured questionnaire which was validated by experts was used for data collection. The reliability coefficient of the instrument was 0.84 using Kuder Richardson Formula 21. Three research hypotheses which were tested at 0.05 level of significance guided the study. Descriptive statistics of means and standard deviations were used to answer the research questions while the independent t-test statistics was used to test the three null hypotheses. It was found among others that the extent to which students perceived the importance of utilizing animal husbandry farm facilities in learning Agricultural Science in Secondary Schools in Ikot Ekpene is Low. The study recommended among others the education of Agricultural Science students in the area on the importance of utilizing animal husbandry farm facilities by secondary schools authorities and teachers of Agricultural Science.
