Abstract
This study “Information and communication technology and its sustainability of industrial development in Nigeria” highlights various activities of the government in relation to Information and Communication Technology in Nigeria and its progress. The study captures various definitions of Information Technology which reveals it as a “broad base Technology”. It also points out the major conditions to be considered for effectiveness of ICT, the importance and major challenges of Information and Communication Technology to the development of the economy and the impact of ICT on the Nigerian Economy. Conceptually, ICT is viewed to ascertain its sustainability on the nations development in areas like Education, Wealth Creation, poverty Alleviation, Job creation and Global Competitiveness. The study further discusses information and Communication resources and its positive influence on Education, Government, Legal system and Business Management which has brought relative industrial development in Nigeria. A few recommendations that could help sustain the needed development are made.
